Some popular South Asian fashion items include saris, lehengas, and salwar kameez for women, and kurtas and dhotis for men. In recent years, South Asian fashion has gained global popularity and has been showcased on international runways and in high-end fashion stores. Many South Asian designers have also gained recognition for their unique and innovative designs.

Afghanistan has a rich cultural heritage, and its traditional clothing reflects this. Afghan men and women have distinct traditional clothing styles.

For men, the traditional clothing is called a "pakol" or "pakul" (a woolen hat) and "chapan" (a long coat) and for women, the traditional clothing is called "burqa" (a full-body veil) and "chadri" (a headscarf)  These clothing items are often made from natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and silk and are decorated with intricate embroidery, beadwork, and other embellishments. The traditional clothing worn by Afghan women is often brightly colored and includes a long, flowing dress, a headscarf, and a shawl.

In recent years, Afghanistan has seen a new generation of fashion designers who are trying to modernize traditional fashion and bring it to the international stage. Some of them are working with traditional fabrics, such as silk and wool, and are experimenting with new cuts, styles, and designs, to create new looks and styles that are relevant foto he the 21st century.

Bangladesh has a rich and diverse cultural heritage, reflected in its traditional clothing. The traditional costume for men is the panjabi, which is a long tunic worn over loose-fitting pants. The traditional costume for women is the saree, which is a long piece of cloth that is wrapped around the waist and draped over the shoulder. Both men and women also often wear a headscarf, known as a dupatta. In recent years, Bangladesh has also become a major center for the production of modern, Western-style clothing.

Bhutan has a unique and traditional culture that is reflected in its traditional clothing. The traditional attire for men is the gho, which is a knee-length robe tied at the waist with a belt called a kera. The traditional attire for women is the kira, which is a long dress worn over a blouse and a light outer jacket called a toego. Both men and women also wear a scarf, known as a rich, which is worn over the shoulder or head. The traditional attire is still worn by many Bhutanese people, particularly during special occasions and festivals, but in everyday life, people also wear modern Western-style clothing. The national dress is mandatory for government officials and civil servants during office hours and also in schools.

INDIA

I'm so familiar with Indian outfits because I see them quite a lot in their movies. And I'm a fan of Bollywood movies, actors, and actresses.

India is a diverse country with many different cultures and traditions, and as such, there is no one specific national costume that can be said to represent the entire country. However, some traditional clothing worn in India includes the sari for women and the dhoti or lungi for men. These garments are often made of brightly colored fabrics and are adorned with intricate embroidery or beadwork. Additionally, the salwar kameez, a combination of a tunic and pants, is also commonly worn by women in India.

A sari, also spelled saree, is a traditional garment worn by women in India, Nepal, and other parts of South Asia. It is a long piece of fabric, usually about 4 to 9 meters in length, that is draped around the body in a specific way. The sari is worn over a blouse and a petticoat and is usually secured in place with a waistband or drawstring.

The sari is a versatile garment that can be worn in many different styles, depending on the occasion and the region of the country. In general, it is worn by draping it over the shoulder, with one end of the sari tucked into the waistband at the back and the other end draped over the head or shoulder.

Saris are made from a wide variety of fabrics, including silk, cotton, and chiffon, and can be adorned with intricate embroidery, beadwork, or other embellishments. They are available in a wide range of colors and designs and are often chosen to match the occasion or the wearer's style.

The sari is considered to be a symbol of traditional Indian culture and is worn by women of all ages and backgrounds, both in India and abroad.

MALDIVES

The Maldives is known for its tropical climate and beaches, and as a result, its fashion often features lightweight, breezy clothing in bright, tropical colors. Swimwear and resort wear are popular choices, as are linen and cotton fabrics. Some traditional Maldivian clothing, such as the sarong-like "lungi" worn by men and the "dhivehi baandi" worn by women, is also occasionally worn by locals and tourists alike.

Dhivehi baandi is a traditional Maldivian garment worn by women. It is a long, flowing dress that is typically made from lightweight cotton or silk fabric. The dress is worn over a bodice and a sarong-like garment called a "fenvelli," and it is secured at the waist with a sash or belt. The dress typically features a high neckline and long sleeves, and it may have intricate embroidery or beadwork on the bodice and sleeves. The hemline of the dress is often decorated with lace or other embellishments. Dhivehi baandi is worn on formal occasions such as weddings and religious festivals and is also often worn by dancers performing traditional Maldivian dances.

Nepal's traditional fashion is heavily influenced by the country's rich cultural heritage. The most common traditional attire for men in Nepal is the dhoti, a long piece of cloth wrapped around the waist and legs, while women typically wear a sari, a long piece of cloth draped over the body and wrapped around the waist. Additionally, the traditional headgear for both men and women is the topi, a round cap. Traditional clothing is made of hand-woven fabrics such as cotton, silk, and wool and is often decorated with intricate embroidery and beadwork. With the influence of globalization, Nepal has also adopted modern fashion trends.

Gurung women in Nepal typically wear traditional attire that is unique to their ethnic group. The traditional attire for Gurung women includes a cholo, which is a blouse that is worn under the sari, and a long skirt called a gunyou. The cholo is typically made of matching or contrasting fabric and is often decorated with intricate embroidery and beadwork. The gunyou is a long skirt that is wrapped around the waist and falls to the ankles. It is usually made of hand-woven fabrics such as cotton, silk, and wool. The traditional headgear for Gurung women is a colorful scarf called a pote. They also wear traditional jewelry such as gold or silver bangles and earrings.

Pakistan has a rich and diverse fashion culture, with traditional and modern styles blending. Pakistani women often wear traditional clothing such as shalwar kameez (a long tunic top and baggy pants) and dupatta (a long scarf or shawl). These garments can be made from a variety of fabrics, such as cotton, silk, and chiffon, and are often adorned with intricate embroidery or beadwork. Pakistani women also commonly wear sarees, which is a long piece of fabric that is wrapped around the body and paired with a blouse and dupatta.

Sri Lankan national women's fashion typically includes traditional clothing such as the sari and osaria, which is a traditional dress worn by women in Sri Lanka. The sari is a long piece of cloth that is wrapped around the waist and draped over the shoulder, while the osaria is a long dress worn with a blouse and a shawl. These traditional garments are often made of silk or cotton and are decorated with intricate embroidery and beadwork.

In addition to traditional clothing, traditional jewelry and accessories such as bangles and flower garlands are often worn by Sri Lankan women. The traditional jewelry is made of gold and silver and is adorned with precious and semi-precious stones.

It's worth noting that, Sri Lanka has diverse ethnic groups, each with their traditional clothing and customs. For example, Kandyan saree which is worn by Sinhalese women is a saree with a specific style of draping and is worn with traditional ornaments like torques and pendants.
