What does Avant Garde mean?
Have you ever seen the Hunger Games movie? Did you notice the Capitol citizen-style costume?
By the way, I'm obsessed with the movie. I watched all of the sequels. One of the reasons why I love this movie (besides I'm a big fan of Jenniffer Lawrence ;p) is the weird and crazy outfits that they're wearing in the movie. Especially the Citizens of the Capitol, they completely high fashion and capture people's attention. Yep, we can call their style avant-garde fashion.
Avant Garde comes from the French term "advance guard" or "vanguard", which means representing individuals or works that are unorthodox. In fashion, avant-garde represents the most daring, unconventional, and wild designs. The celebrity that is a fan of avant-garde style is Lady Gaga.
Pierre Cardin is the first designer that introduced avant-garde fashion style. And we can find so many famous designers nowadays popping up and showing their avant-garde collections.
