Fashion Design Free Online Course

Hey, Chics!

Today I want to post about a fashion design course online at Alison.com. But before I start, I will let you know about my story and why I'm interested in Fashion.

Prior to that, I was working at a local retail office company for 7 years. In my free time, I like to spend my time browsing fashion news, designer runway collection, and fashion sketch videos on youtube. Then I started to create my fashion blog to share my thought about fashion (even though I'm not managed it well).

I've never had a fashion education before, I only graduated with a Computer Management degree. I learned about photoshop and website development, which helped me a lot for me right now.

After I resigned from my full-time job, I decided to take a short sewing course for 6 months. I learned how to create patterns, sew, and make clothes.
In 2014 I started to create my online shop chicklopediashop and produced it by myself. Begun with design, making patterns, sewing, photoshoots, editing, and selling on social media. Even more, I built my own website.

During the pandemic, I decided to stop my online shop and become a freelancer at upwork.com. after I worked as a freelancer, I learned so much from my client, especially in the fashion niche. And that makes me want to learn more about fashion design. As a mother with two sons, I don't have enough time to back to the course offline. So I started looking at the course online because it has flexible time. And I found Alison.com which has a full fashion design course and it's free with paid certificate. They have 3 kinds of paid certificates: pdf, printed, and frame certificates. The pdf file is cheaper than the others. I only need the pdf file to upload it to my job profile and portfolio.

I love the course even without the certificate because I gain a lot of new knowledge from the course. So, what I learned from the fashion design course at Alison are :
- I know the history of fashion design
- What skills do we need to become fashion designers?
- Principle of fashion design.
- Fashion design process; make a mood board and sketch design.
- Understanding Pattern making & Garment Tech Pack.
- Understanding Textile Fabrics, Fibres, and Yarns.
- Introduction to creating a clothing label
And many more.

If you want to learn the online course you can try it as well at Alison.com. It has so many free courses with different subjects or careers. So, what are you waiting for? If you want to upskill or change your career!

And how about my online shop? Do I want to go back and produce some new collections?
Of course, I do.
But not this time, because I still need to learn more about how to create a clothing label.
I learn from the courses and learn from my clients as well.
